August 18, 2006 - Public Apathetic About Mobile WiFi
At least in the UK. A web hosting firm called Hostway conducted a survey of 1500 of it's consumers... and the results were not good. The firm reported that over 33% of respondents were frustrated by slow loading and unavailable web pages. Another 25% said they did not use mobile and PDA devices because of difficulty navigating web pages. Unfortunately, no statistics were provided regarding the use of laptops/notebooks. But from the sound of it, it's too slow....

Another security flaw has reared its ugly head. As reported in FierceWiFi, "clever security researchers said they have found a way to seize control of a laptop computer by manipulating buggy code in the system's wireless device driver." So, you really want to get those spammers, eh? That resource will help you track and report the spammers. Personally, I'd love to, but who has the time? Best to keep it simple... So, I use MailWasher which not only helps rid you of spam, but is also a huge aid in combating viruses. You configure the program to check your email right on your ISP, and then preview before downloading. There is a paid version with enhanced tools for fighting spam....

05.10.06 Anti Spy ware Tips
Well,I've been meaning to get back to this for days. As reviewed in the previous article, I, for one, and I'm not alone in that belief, find that no one particular anti virus program or anti spy ware program is the be all and end all of anti anything. I have used Ad Aware for several years and find it to be quite good. There is a free version for personal use with some limitations, but ought to be quite good for the average user. However, I also use Spy Sweeper, both on a twice per week basis....

Of course, I've never been one to come up with those catchy handles people use on Yahoo and MSN chats... So, I guess that made it tougher....
