Belgrano is a fantastic barrio (neighbourhood) with numerous green spaces including Barrancas de Belgrano, set on the banks sloping from the Rio de la Plata, it was created Carlos Thays the prominent landscaper who designed the Palermo's famous Botanical Gardens.
My favourite is the small, but well formed, burgeoning Chinatown where you can find Asian food, 'delis' and restaurants. Belgrano is quieter than nearby Palermo and Recoleta but still convenient to everything you should see in Buenos Aires. Click a look at Belgrano's best value budget to luxury apartments and hotels.
Belgrano has a wonderful history, its past can be linked to Argentina's political and ruling classes; it was named after Manuel Belgrano, a revered politician and military leader who created the national flag of Argnetina.
On Belgrano's death, Buenos Aires' city planners decided to name the next barrio after him. This barrio soon became an important district and its success is clearly signposted by numerous mansion houses, embassies and hotels, and best of all, its many great parks .
Just a few years from Belgrano's death, this town was declared a city, due to its booming growth, and it even became the nation's capital when Buenos Aires ruling classes locked-horns Central Government over Buenos Aires' status as a city. It was in Belgrano that amazing Buenos Aires was declared the nations Capital Federal.
Museums in Belgrano include the Museo Historico Sarmiento, the former home of president and diplomat Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, Museo Enrique Larreta, , the former home of the novelist, and the Museo Casa Yrurtia, former home of sculptor Rogelio Yrurtia.
